Guernsey Swimming Club swimmers, Lola Williams and Sam Cann travelled to the Winchester Autumn Qualifier Meet on 3rd and 4th October 2026.
This meet marked the start of the Guernsey Swimming Club away meets of the Short-Course (25m pool) season and was the last chance for swimmers to improve their times to reach the South-East Winter Regionals Championships in November.
Lola, 14 years old, took part in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, the 50m and 200m freestyle, the 50m butterfly, and the 100m and 200m Individual Medley.
Sam, 16 years old, entered the 100m and 200m Individual Medley, the 50m butterfly, and the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle. Proving breaststroke is his strongest stroke, he brought home gold in the 50m breaststroke, silver for the 100m and bronze for the 200m improving his personal best by 7.07 for that distance.
Sue Chapman, GSC Coach who support the swimmers at the weekend commented ‘it was great to see Lola and Sam competing this weekend. They achieved personal bests and started the away season with great performances, proving their dedication in training brings positive outcomes’.
