COMPETITIVE PATHWAY
Sea Lions
Sea Lions is the next step in GSC's competitive pathway, building on the skills and training habits developed through Marlins.
Swimmers begin to take greater ownership of their training, developing their technique and fitness as they work towards the next level of competitive swimming.

DEVELOPING AS A SWIMMER
Training with purpose
As swimmers move into Sea Lions, training becomes more structured, with an increasing focus on developing fitness alongside strong swimming technique.
Swimmers continue to develop across all four strokes, starts, turns and underwater skills while learning how to train consistently and make the most of each session.

COMPETITION
Taking racing further
Competition is an important part of Sea Lions, giving swimmers the opportunity to build race experience, record personal bests and work towards qualification standards.
Swimmers are expected to compete in appropriate competitions throughout the year, including GSC events, as they continue developing as competitive swimmers.

PROGRESSION
Ready for the next step
Sea Lions provides the bridge between the early stages of competitive swimming and the more demanding training that follows.
As swimmers develop their technique, fitness, consistency and competition experience, the coaching team will assess when they are ready to progress into Stingrays.
Progression is based on each swimmer's overall development and readiness for the next stage of the pathway.
