COMPETITIVE PATHWAY
Stingrays
Stingrays is the next stage of GSC's competitive pathway, building on the skills, fitness and training habits developed through Sea Lions.
As swimmers progress, training becomes increasingly focused on developing consistency, race skills and the ability to perform across a range of events.

DEVELOPING AS A SWIMMER
Becoming a stronger competitor
In Stingrays, swimmers continue to refine their technique across all four strokes while developing the fitness and skills needed for more demanding training and competition.
There is an increasing emphasis on training consistently, understanding race skills and taking greater responsibility for their own development.

COMPETITION
Building race experience
Competition plays an important role in Stingrays, giving swimmers the opportunity to put their training into practice and develop experience across a range of events and distances.
Swimmers are expected to compete regularly at an appropriate level, working towards personal bests and qualification standards as they progress through the competitive pathway.

PROGRESSION
Ready for the next challenge
As swimmers develop greater consistency in training and competition, the coaching team will assess their readiness to progress into Dolphins.
Progression considers the swimmer as a whole — including technique, fitness, training habits, competition experience and readiness for the demands of the next squad.
